Eighth Grade Career Planning
New this year, the district-required and hexter long Eighth Grade Career Planning class is a function of the BMS guidance department and is being taught by Mrs. Liz Dickson, seventh grade counselor.  The purpose of the course is to expose students to a variety of post-secondary options, discover the world of work, learn about spending plans, income, and expenses, and listen to a wide variety of guest speakers.  Every student is required to invite a guest speaker to speak for 10-15 minutes regarding their career, and if you would have any interest being a Career Planning guest speaker, please don't hesitate to contact Mrs. Dickson at 715-6112 or edickson@mpsomaha.org.

For parents of Career Planning students, please invite your students to show you their profiles they create on two very thorough and helpful websites:

Both of these websites have tremendous resources for students and parents as you begin to think about high school and beyond!
Operation School Bell
Operation School Bell (OSB) is a service made possible through the Assistance League of Omaha. OSB offers parents the opportunity to request needed clothing including warm winter coats/items for their pre-kindergarten through 8th grade students.   Parents can contact their student’s school counselor or the school nurse to have their child(ren’s) names be considered by the Assistance League for clothing items. The deadline for name submission by school personnel is September 30, 2010, so please call immediately if you are interested in this opportunity. Thank you for allowing us to serve you/your family.
Student-Led Conferences
Student-Led Conferences are not that far off. For those families new to Beadle, our conferences are more interactive and are truly led by your child(ren). We utilize a web-based program for scheduling conferences called Pick-A-Time. The window will be open on September 6th to sign up for conferences. More information will be forth coming soon.
Dress Code
DRESS CODE
With the weather warming up it is important for students and parents to be reminded of dress code expectations at Beadle. Examples of unacceptable dress include tank tops, halter tops, tube tops, spaghetti straps, etc. Students should also keep in mind that excessively short skirts and shorts are not permitted to be worn in the school building. Unfortunately, while stylish and cute, the majority of skirts and shorts currently sold at “trendy” clothing stores are not appropriate for school. Please help us supervise and support this. Thank you.
